It is amazing how much a change in case material can alter the personality of a watch. In stainless steel, the Navitimer is a beautiful watch, its looks being instrumental and true to its history, yet still contemporary and elegant. However, for the configuration pictured, Breitling took these statements as a starting point - and added the heft and warmth of the sumptuous red gold case. The warmth of this case is replicated in the dial, whose markers and prints are done in matching color, much like the 'gilt' prints of days gone by - resulting in a very coherent and gently-toned iteration of the iconic Navitimer.
Just like its stainless steel counterpart, the present Navitimer is powered Breitling's caliber 01, an in-house selfwinding movement with column-wheel operated chronograph mechanism.
