With Art Deco reigning surpreme, it is this era that gave birth to a number of spectacular rectangular and tonneau-shaped watches, with one of the most notable models being the oversized wristwatches created by Patek Philippe for Gondolo & Labouriau and their 'Gondolo Gang' such as this example born in 1926 and offered at auction by Christie's back in 2010. The present version of the Long Island still honors its vintage ancestors yet is a thoroughly modern watch. Its stainless steel case measures 25.9*44.45mm and houses both a reliable quartz movement as well as a dial with a spectacular display of guilloche and exploding, reflecting Arabic numerals.
