The Monza was made to honor Niki Lauda as the winner of the 1975 Formula 1 World championship with Ferarri. TAG Heuer was the official timekeeper for Ferarri when he won the championship. To honor the event, TAG Heuer created the Monza. The coussin case is the same as the original 1976 version, but this time it is crafted in lightweight titanium. It is coated in black carbide to give it a strong, matte black appearance. The diameter has increased from 39mm to 41mm for a more modern look. TAG Heuer has used the original Monza font on the dial, and included the pulsometer and tachymeter scale on the 40th anniversary edition. The Monza Heuer logo on the dial is a tribute to the original. On the caseback the logo is printed again along with the edition number. This watch is limited to 2000 models. The 40th anniversary Monza is fitted with a black calfskin leather racing strap.
