One of our favorite novelties from Basel World this year is without a doubt the Longines Railroad. I love a watch that uses a nice story as the basis of its inspiration, and the Longines Railroad certainly pays homage to the company's 100 year history in supplying timepieces to railway employees. Reliable trainservice is only as successful as their time keeping. Longines used to produce pocket watches for the train conductors so that they could be sure to keep their trains running on schedule.
The Longines Railroad stays true to keeping the time as easy as possible to read by utilizing a 24 hour index. The bright white dial is crystal clear and the watch is powered by the Longines movement caliber L888.2. R.R. 888 is printed on the dial, referencing both the movement and the Railroad. The 40mm case has a stainless steel back engraved with a picture of a train. The automatic timepiece is completed with a black alligator strap.
