Zenith is on a roll! In the past couple of months alone, we've seen an entirely new model in the form of the Chronomaster Sport, and clever new takes on existing models such as the Defy 21 Urban Jungle, Felipe Pantone and Ultrablue. Zenith now expands its collection with the introduction of the Defy Extreme - 'a new expression of superlative precision and ruggedness'.
The easiest way to describe the Zenith Defy Extreme? A supercharged Defy 21. But don't be fooled - the Zenith Defy Extreme is an entirely new watch with enough character to fill a room. It's rugged and sporty, with sharp lines and bold angles. Its robustness is reinforced by the addition of components protecting the pushers, and a screw-down crown that helps increase its water resistance to a respectable 200 meters. Another signature element is the twelve-sided ring that sits under the round bezel - a feature mirrored in the twelve-sided caseback.
Like the Defy 21, the Zenith Defy Extreme is powered by the El Primero 9004. This movement features a chronograph with a seconds hand that makes one revolution every second. This is made possible through the use of two escapements, the second of which beats at an astonishing 360,000 VpH. The movement can be seen in action both through the see-through case back as well as through the sapphire crystal dial, which features applied markers and rings for the sub dials.
The Zenith Defy Extreme comes in three different executions; in microblasted titanium with black details, polished and brushed titanium with blue finish, and finally a sumptuous version done in a combination of titanium and rose gold. All come with a bracelet and two additional straps.
